Are cell phone jammers illegal in the US?

Q. My friends and I are graduating and we want to get our band director a thank you gift. We were thinking about getting him a cell phone jammer because he is always yelling at the class for using their phones, but I am not sure if they are actually legal or not.

A. Yes they are illegal.

how to disable the cell phone jammers?
Q. hey what's up guys. i'm working in a company that got a cell phone jammer and it's near to my office.
and i can't go to turn them off.
so is there anyway to help me turning this jammer off.
i tried that manual way once and i was about to be caught and so i don't wanna do this manually.
i hope there's anything to help me out with this.
for example creating a device to cut the frequency of this jammer or anything like that
thanks.

A. The real answer is no, you can't do it.

In theory, you could blow out the circuit with an electramgnetic pulse strong enough, but to do this you would need a small nuclear explosion. Your boss will probably frown on you bringing tactical nukes to work.

You could also shield the jammer. Wrapping it in foil would create a farraday cage that would trap the transmitted EMF. (Just the same way that your microwave ove traps in the microwaves that are emitted so that things outside the oven don't get cooked.)

Someone will notice that you've wrapped the device in foil.

Someone will notice if you shut off power to the building.

Your only real option is to get far enough away from it. Sorry. It's your only choice.

is it illegal to have a cell phone jammer at work place?
Q. is it illegal to have a cell phone jammer at your work place blocking all cell phones that come in and which makes them have no service

A. If you're interfering with your company's cellular reception and depriving them of service, yes, that could be a legal problem for you...more than likely civil.
