Has there been a real increase in the amount of brain cancer?

Q. I can think of 4 people I've known who either have it, or have already died of it, plus several famous people seem to have had it as well. Is there an actual statistical uptick in the amount of brain cancer? Part B--some people say that IF there is an uptick, it might be due to cell phone use. While I accept that as a possible explanation, could it also be possible that dental X rays might have caused some brain cancers, too?

A. Well, i am 80 years old, and in my time i have heard every mortal thing given as the cause of cancers, but very very few are ever proved to be right. After the atom bomb tests that was to blame,so was SPUTNIK then luminous watches, the list goes on, and still we have no definitive reason.Lung cancer is put down to smoking,OK but what about the rest,...breast, testicular, liver, bowel and so on. My personal view is we must be ingesting some thing that our body does not like.I do hope its not chocolate cause i love it.

Tell me how cell phones are dangerous to the human body and how they are not?
Q. I need to write a persuasive essay on this topic so help me please.
i am on the cell -phones- are- dangerous side.

A. Actually it has been proven. The long term study I have is on the risk factor for brain cancer. There's other studies showing a decrease in sperm count and also prostate or testicular cancer, can't remember which, in men who carry it in the pants pocket.

Can radiation affect testosterone levels?
Q. I'm doing a project for biology involving the use of cell phones and the radiation that they give off. I've heard that the radiation levels can affect testicular cancer (for men who keep cell phones in their pockets) and breast cancer (for women who keep cell phones in their bras), but can the radiation given off from cells affect testosterone levels in either sex?

A. Your cell phone is glued to your ear: Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic discovered that the more time men spent on their cell phones, the lower their sperm counts. Men who spent four hours a day or more on their cells had the lowest sperm counts and men who didn't use cell phones at all had the highest. A separate Australian laboratory study figured out why: The 1.8 gigahertz frequency used by cell phones increased the amount of free radical damage on sperm, reducing their ability to swim and increasing DNA fragmentation.â

Q. I've been deployed to Afghanistan for the past year and will need to step up to something new from my LG Voyager when I return. Which phones are now (or in the next 3 months) considered the best cell phones on the Verizon network?

A. Right now the Droid is the best phone out. In the next 3 months as far as all the announced phones the Droid Incredible will be the best one out. Running android 2.1 with a 1G processor and a beautiful screen.

Do you need to get internet service on a cell phone from verizon?
Q. Do you need to get internet service on a cell phone from verizon? I have a wireless router at home and places like Starbucks has WI FI but verizon says i would need to pay for the internet service. Is this true?

A. If your phone has WiFi capability (which unless it is a PDA type phone it probably doesn't) then you can use your router at home. If you have a standard phone and you want to get on the internet then yes...you would have to get internet from them.

Do you think everyone will eventually end up getting some type of cancer?

Q. A recent study said "Cell phones cause cancer". It made my eyes roll.
It seems that, especially when folks turn middle-aged, the majority end up getting some form of cancer anyway.

A. The statistics are somewhere near 1 out of every 3 people. We've never been so reliant on man-made materials (harsh chemicals, artificially preserved, processed, and produced food), technology, and healthy habits have been slacking off in recent generations. All of these things greatly increase our chances of acquiring cancer sometime within our lives, so as a result we see a higher rate of cancer among the population (it's all proportional).

Fellow Christians: If it was discovered that handling/using a cell phone would cause cancer, would you stop?
Q. Let's try not get lost in semantics on this question. If you found out that using a cell phone could cause cancer, such that a surgeon general warning began appearing on cell phones tomorrow because of this... would you continue to use it, or would you stop? This is purely hypothetical.

A. It's fundamentally known that alcohol damages one's liver and brain development and that cigarettes clog lungs with tar and cause lung cancer, but people still use them nonetheless.

Even if it wasn't neccesary in today's times (which it is), people would still use them anyways. I don't really use cell phones much since I prefer to talk via phone or personal.

Can listening to music on smartphone cause cancer?
Q. If talking on the cellphone for long periods can cause cancer from radio waves, can listening to music through the earphone cause cancer as well? Can the radio waves travel through the wire and into your ear? I know that there's not much proof that talking on cell phones causes cancer but I want to be safe than sorry. I usually put my phone in my bag and not handle the phone for so long to be safe. How safe is it to listen to music frequently through smartphones?

A. Hasn't been confirmed. Don't listen to the media. My 2 cents.

Do you have to pay to unclock cell phones?

Q. I was told that you can have cell phones unlocked for free if you call your carrier. Now I'm no longer with T-mobile and I have a Motorola V360 that I want to unlock. I searched online and the prices vary from 14.99 to 39. Can I still call T-mobile to ask them to unlock or do I have to pay to have it unlocked? Are those unlocking services reliable? Any recommendations? Thanks!
I already left T-mobile 4 months ago... can I still call them to unlock?

A. What carrier(s) are you thinking about going to? The truth is the Internet phone unlockers are reliable but sometimes mistakes happen, so if you decide to use one of those phone unlocking sites make sure to read the terms and agreements and also make sure that they have customer service (phone or email services) to contact if something wrong did happen.

What is a good sight to get unlocked Cell Phones?
Q. Whats some good sights to get At&t cell phones or unlocked cellphones? I want to pay next to nothing if at all possible and i want one that doesnt require the 2 year agreement deal.

A. Check out Amazon. Don't go to eBay... it's too sketchy.

What is the best way to annoy rude people using their cell phones in public?
Q. What is the best way to annoy someone who is being rude with their cell phone in public?
Here is one funny way I annoyed someone being obnoxious with his cell phone using Face Book.

A. when i worked at a restaurant i made people get off their cellphone before i would acknowlegde them or get anything for them

Why do people talk on cell phones in public?
Q. Many people find it inconsiderate when others use cell phones, unnecessarily, in public a space. Personally, I prefer to keep my conversations private. I'm really curious to hear from those who don't feel this way and to know why you don't mind having a conversation where anyone around can hear OR why you think it's ok to talk on the phone while interacting with others (e.g., waitress, clerks, etc.). I'm just trying to understand, not criticize.

A. I am like you - I feel uncomfortable with people listening in on my conversations. However, I know alot of people who dont mind others listening in on conversations.

But to answer your question, there are a number of reasons.

1. Somebody calls you first. You have no choice but to answer (since it could be something important)

2. Some people like showing off brand new phones and the only way to not wave it in front of peoples faces - and thus looking ridiculous) is to talk loudly on the phone, hence, flaunting it.

3. Others think that they look cool because talking on the phone makes them look like that they are popular (to appear to have lots of friends that shower them with attention/gossip)

4. It could be urgent news or you agreed to call somebody to notify something.

5. Some people love chatting/socialising, or are easily bored and so they are desperate to communicate with other people.

Does anyone know about the link between cell phones and cancer?

Q. i heard that too much radiation from cell phones can give you cancer. especially if a man has his cell phone around his belt all the time. does anyone have any proof or know of any websites about this?

A. Despite extensive studies done the past ten years or more in European countries . . no one has been able to conclusively establish a direct link between cell phone use and cancer. The scare about it from the media comes from the unknown . . no one knows what causes cancer . . and so just about anything anyone can think up becomes the next mass hysteria. Basically, if it bothers you than just change your habits with cell phones . . don't use them . . but no concrete evidence exists to link brain tumors with a cell phone or any other type of cancer.

ACS: Cellular Phones

Only a few decades ago there was no proven connection between smoking and cancer. So what about Cell Phones?
Q. Some people almost seem to ridicule the notion that cell phones might cause cancer.

The first thing said in response is often "everything causes cancer" - which is simply untrue.

We can isolate some things which cause cancer. Could cell phones be such a thing?

Some experts say they do cause cancer. This is hardly a consensus. But there is more and more attention being paid to the issue.

What do you think about it?

A. It's one of those things that will go on forever, unless there is concrete proof that no one can deny....and there will always be someone with something to lose if that proof comes out, so chances are, it won't.

It's like the drug companies. It's more profitable for them to treat diseases than to cure them, so they don't.

Cell carriers will lose their buttholes if it's shown that cells are dangerous, so the proof of that, will never come out.

Can cell phones cause cancer through the reverse stimulation of meridians?
Q. There has been some concern over the potential for brain cancer through cell phone use, but some of us are concerned with the meridians being stimulated through negative energy of the RF waves.

A. The microwaves from cellphones can cause cancer and surely it's bad for the meridians.
